And it continues ...

Yes, there are additional pieces that the Leafs need as a team. Like guys who will go to the net, stand there, take abuse.

But even with those pieces, the results would not be much better.

Fire. Ron. Wilson. Now.

When the hot hand doesn't get a chance.

As Vinay Menon asked in his blog today, " " As someone with having no experience coaching, I'd have to guess, "Uhmm .... beats me."

But then, Wilson is one of the best coaches around, ain't that so, Brian?

Any questions?

Any question Wilson should go? Didn't think so.

Convinced yet?

From the Toronto Star, Sunday, January 10 2010:

"These unfortunate circumstances unfolded over about 10 minutes in the second period Saturday night as the Leafs were tumbling to a 4-1 defeat – that's 31 defeats in 46 hockey games this season, 79 losses in 128 Leaf games under coach Ron Wilson – and seemed to symbolize how bleak matters have become in the opening days of 2010."

79 losses in 128 games. Wilson's record in the past means nothing to me. The huge portion of those past victories were with teams with a lot of talent, playoff bound or ready teams. In other words, he's the wrong coach for the current Leaf situation.

Record with the Ducks:

Season Record Pctg. GF GA Standing Power Play Penalty Kill. Home Road OT
1993-94 33-46-5, 71 pts. .423 229 251 4th Pac./9th West 54-376 (14.4) 67-388 (82.7) 14-26-2 19-20-3 2-5-5

With Washington he walked into a team ready for a long run, on the back of "Olie the Goalie." After that? Nothing past the first round.

His best run was with the Sharks -- a talent laden team that he couldn't guide to the Cup.

"On May 12, 2008, Wilson was fired by Doug Wilson, after three straight second round exits in the playoffs. (Wikipedia)

So now we have a team in "rebuilding stage", with only one true sniper, uncertain goaltending and a PK that is abysmal. Lead by a coach who had a "reputation" for great defense and a top-notch PK. A coach who has a young stud defenseman who is struggling beyond the typical "sophomore slump". A coach who has managed to alienate Tomas Kaberle, something neither Pat Quinn nor Paul Maurice could do, not even John Ferguson Jr. was that incompetent.

All along Wilson has bashed leadership in the Leafs dressing room, including Mats, one of the best leaders of all time. Even if it were true, why do you say that? You only further demoralize what leadership and team chemistry you have.

No, when it comes to lack of leadership, Wilson should be looking in the mirror. He will see arrogance staring back.

Fire Wilson -- Don't Wait

From the very beginning I've been uneasy about Ron Wilson, the Coach of my Toronto Maple Leafs. Nearly the first thing out of his mouth was to trash-talk the leadership on the team, dissing Mats when Mats was newly gone.

Even if Ron believes that stuff, why further tear down a dispirited team?

Wilson knows NOTHING about psychology. He has done squat since his team won the World Cup.

There won't be many entries in this blog, but the purpose is for you to comment. Rant away!
